KHOST CITY(PAN schemes worth 161 million afghanis, about $3.8 million, were approved for southeastern Khost province on Wednesday, an official said.
The projects were okayd at a meeting chaired by the Khost governor and attended by government department heads and provincial council members, as well as representatives of the donor community.
The reconstruction schemes, recommended by different departments, were thoroughly discussed by the participants and 23 of them were sanctioned, the governor’s spokesman said.
Mubarez Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News buildings for schools, retaining walls, canals and water heads would be constructed as part of the schemes. Some agriculture projects will also be executed.
The security situation also figured at the meeting, with Governor Jabbar Naeemi praising foreign forces’ role in this regard. He called the opening of the High Peace Council office in Khost a huge stride towards security.
