KABUL): Counternarcotics police seized 370 kilograms of drugs in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Up to 291 kgs of opium was confiscated from a house during an operation in Jawand district of western Farah province on Monday, deputy counternarcotics department head at the interior ministry, Lt. Gen. Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A man was detained in connection with the drugs and was under police interrogation, he said.
Another 59 kgs of opium was seized in Gulran district of western Herat province. Four people were detained in connection with the drugs, he said.
In a separate operation in Sangin district of southern Helmand province, police seized 20 kgs of opium and a Kalashnikov with bullets, Ahmadi said, adding no one had been detained in that operation.
