KABUL fighters detained in separate operations in southern Helmand province, officials said on Monday.
A rebel commander, named as Haqyar, was detained along with an associate on Sunday during an operation by Afghan and foreign troops in the Spin Jumaat area of Greshk district.
Another rebel leader, Abdul Wali, was captured along with four fighters in the Tarkha Nawar area of Marja district, the governor’s spokesman, Daud Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A third commander, Mullah Ikram, was among five militants arrested in the same district. The detainees were involved disruptive activities and harassing residents, he added.
Elsewhere, four guerrillas including a commander were detained by foreign troops in the Qara Dhaka village of Doshi district in northern Baghlan province.
Administrative head of the town, Shamsuddin Sarhadi, identified the detainee as Sheikh Dian. Civilians suffered no casualties in the offensive, he added.
