4 injured in an attack on Jalalabad air base

 JALALABAD (PAN attack on the entrance to a Jalalabad air base, an official said on Tuesday.

At 8:30 pm on Monday, Taliban attacked the northeastern entrance to the base. Two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and two civilians were injured in the 30-minute battle, Behsud district chief Naimatullah told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The civilians suffered casualties when a shell hit their vehicle on Jalalabad-Torkham highway, but it was not clear which side fired the shell, he said.

The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, confirmed that two people had sustained injuries.

Emal Khan, a witness, said that Taliban attacked three checkpoints in front of the airbase, and that security personnel had cordoned off the area.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the Taliban blew up two ANA vehicles, inflicting casualties on many soldiers.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF, and bin Laden’s dead body was taken to the airbase.
