BAGHLAN (PAN): A young girl was killed and six others injured in a fight between police and militants in the De Sala district of the northeastern province of Baghlan, an official said.
De Sala district chief Abdul Anan told Pajhwok Afghan News that the conflict began Friday and lasted late into the night. It began when militants stormed a Sayad security checkpoint.
A young girl was killed in the clash, and three policemen as well as a woman and two men were injured, the source added. Provincial police spokesman Jawid Basharat confirmed the strike but said he was unaware of casualties.

FARYAB: Two suspected militants were killed while planting bombs on the Qaisar-Ghormach road in northeastern Faryab province, Sgt. Sayed Masud, the police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Abdul Sabur, a driver, said: “Early in the morning, I was going to the Qaisar district. I saw policemen collecting body parts of two men in the Ashorzai area.”

PAKTIA: Five Haqqani network) in southeastern Paktia province, the alliance said on Saturday.
The operation was conducted in the Zurmat district against the militants armed with weapons and explosives, the ISAF press office said, adding the men were sneaked into the district from Pakistan.
Gulab Shah, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation was carried out in the Panjpai area of the town. He had no information whether the dead were civilians or insurgents.
But Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the victims were civilians, not rebels.

KHOST: An Afghan military officer was killed and two of his colleagues were injured in a suicide attack in the Sabari district of southeastern Khost province on Friday.
The bomber struck a foot patrol of Afghan National Army troops in the Zambar area at 2pm, a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News. Ahmad Wali, a resident of the area, said the bomber attacked a joint patrol of Afghan and American forces.

HERAT (PAN): A would-be suicide bomber was among four suspected militants arrested by intelligence officials in western Herat province, the spy service said on Friday.
Without disclosing the exact place of the arrests, the National Directorate of Security (NDS Juma alias Hikmat, the group leader.
The statement identified Mullah Juma as a resident of Bala Marghab district of western Badghis province. The three others associates included Shah Wali alias Nafi, Abdullah and Gulbadin.
Mullah Juma had confessed to his crime during the preliminary investigations. Juma had joined the group with the help of Maulvi Abdul Manan.
The detainees had received training for terrorist attacks in Pakistan, the statement said.
Some explosives were also recovered from the four, it said.
