JALALABAD (PAN fighters, including a commander and a would-be suicide attacker, were killed in separate security operations in Nangarhar, Kunduz and Uruzgan provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Three insurgents were killed in a clash with police in Pirakhel area of Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday morning, the district chief, Mohammad Hassan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, on the other hand, said one policeman was also wounded in the clash. The wounded policeman was taken to a hospital and his condition is said to be stable, he said.
In Kunduz, a Taliban commander was killed and a fighter injured during a clash with Afghan security forces in Khanabad district late Friday night, the district police chief said.
Col. Sufi Habib identified the slain militant commander as Maulvi Bashir, who had been active in the district for last one year.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman in Uruzgan said a would-be suicide attacker, who wanted to target a police check post in Dehrawood district, was gunned down before he could detonate his explosives.
The police did not receive any casualties in the incident, Fardi Ail, the police spokesman, said.
