KABUL): President Hamid Karzai returned home on Saturday afternoon from a three-day official visit to the Islamabad, where he attended a trilateral summit on regional challenges, an official said.
Accompanied by senior officials, President Karzai met his Pakistani and Iranian counterparts on combating the twin scourge of terrorism and drugs, his spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Aimal Faizi said Karzai had held fruitful talks on bilateral cooperation with Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinajhad.
During the visit, Karzai also met Pakistani political figures Aftab Sherpao, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Haji Adeel, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Afrasiab Khatak and Zahid Khan.
Reconciliation talks with the Taliban and increased regional cooperation in diverse fields figured prominently at the meetings.
