WASHINGTON (PAN): US President Barack Obama on Monday called his Afghan counterpart to discuss with him regional support for the reconciliation process, the White House said.
“They discussed regional support for Afghan-led reconciliation, the Afghanistan-Iran trilateral meetings last week in Islamabad, and other strategic issues of mutual concern,” a statement from the White House said.
Obama and Karzai agreed to speak again soon to remain closely aligned as both countries continued efforts to achieve common goals. They agreed to work together to forge a long-term partnership, the statement added.
