KABUL): A government official on Sunday said Foreign minister Zalmay Rassoul will leave for Saudi Arabia where he is expected to discuss on the proposed peace negotiations with anti-government fighters.
Rassoul would discuss Afghan government’s efforts on peace talks with Taliban fighters with his Saudi counterpart and other high ranking officials, ministry spokesman Janan Musazai said at a news conference.
But no further details were made public, but the minister would also discuss bilateral matters with Saudi government.
The spokesman also said a European Union delegation would be in Kabul on Monday to discuss the signing of long-term strategic pact with the Afghanistan and mining.
He said the agreement with EU would take more at least a year to sign as other member countries in the bloc need to agree on the proposed plans.
The Afghan government had so far signed strategic cooperation agreements with Britain, France, India and Italy.
