KABUL, blocked by heavy snow and avalanches in three central provinces would be cleared within next three days, an official said on Monday.
The roads in Daikundi, Bamyan and Ghor would be reopen in three days after the severe blizzard dumped more than three metres of snow on the routes, Wali Mohammad Rassouli said, claiming temperatures in some parts plummeted to -25C.
“If snowstorms stop as of tomorrow, the blocked roads can be cleared in one day,” he said, adding so far only one person had died as a result of snow avalanches on highways.
He said artificial avalanches were triggered by firing shells into mountains in order natural incidents could be prevented.
