HERAT CITY (PAN commander’s escape from the central prison, an official said on Monday.
The detainees, including senior prison officials, were being investigated over last week’s escape of the rebel leader, the governor’s spokesman Mohiuddin Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Urban Prosecutor Gul Ahmad Ramesh identified the fleeing insurgent commander as Qari Ghulam Rasul.
The escapee, a resident of Ghoryan district, had been sentenced to 20 years in jail by a National Directorate of Security court for fuelling the insurgency.
