MAIMANA (PAN): Two people died as several houses were swept away by flash floods that also damaged crops in two districts of northern Faryab province, officials said on Friday.
The floods hit Garziwan and Balchiragh districts, destroying dozens of homes and inundating hundreds of acres of agriculture land, Garziwan district chief Abdul Razaq Kakar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said two people lost their lives to the disaster that perished hundreds of livestock in the two districts, where the affected families were in urgent need of assistance.
Deputy governor Abdul Sattar Bariz said a delegation had been appointed to assess the situation before relief supplies were made to the affected families. He said food, medicine and tents would be provided to the victims.
