KABUL closed off part of the heart of Islamabad on Thursday, firing randomly with two automatic weapons.
With his family in a car, the armed man slipped past many checkpoints in the heavily policed area before firing in the air, as the police were alerted about possible attacks by militants from the tribal areas on border with Afghanistan.
As his stand-off with police began, he demanded the overthrow of the government and fired randomly in the air. “I am against vulgarity and immorality. My associates have taken up positions in the whole of Pakistan,” he told a local TV channel.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered in the central Jinnah Avenue as night fell and periodic gunshots rang out in the air. Seemed his wife, the gunman has a woman and two children in the car
