MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Unknown gunmen shot dead a former senator in the capital of northern Balkh province and injured his two guards on Monday, police said.
Haji Abdul Ghani, a former jihadi’s previous term, came under attack near the Al-Falah Hospital on the Shiberghan road west of Mazar-i-Sharif in the afternoon, Deputy Police Chief Col. Abdul Razaq Qadri said.
Ghani, once member of the Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan jihadi groups, was killed on the spot.
His two guards injured in the attack had been taken to hospital, said Qadari, who had no information about their health condition.
