FAIZABAD (PAN’s captivity by Afghan forces with cooperation from residents in the Warduj district of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Saturday.
The six were taken hostage by insurgents on Thursday during an operation that left 20 security personnel dead, 13 others injured and many more abducted.
Dawlat Mohammad Khawar, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the the security men were released by the Taliban as a result of joint efforts by security officials and locals.
He said all released men were in good health and had returned to job. Khawar was concerned about increasing Taliban activities in the district and requested the government to launch a major operation against them.
