JALALABAD (PAN institute on Thursday put on display handicrafts made by them during a day-long exhibition in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.
Sponsored by the Al-Falah Higher Education Institute, the show on the institute’s premises in Jalalabad is aimed at sending a message to other higher public and private education institutes to indulge students in constructive activities, the institute’s deputy dean, Dr. Mashooq Sadat, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said higher education institutes should provide students with opportunities of practical works in addition to theoretical studies.
“Another aim of the exhibition is to find market for such products,” he said, adding all items on the display were made by students.
He said they had invited officials of five factories to visit the exhibition and share their expertise with students.
Acting Nangarhar Governor Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal, pleased with the exhibition, asked universities to focus on fiving students practical lessons.
“I believe students who can make such products will be able to establish their own factories in future,” he remarked.
A student, Romal Sadat, said he had put on display a small building made of woods, besides other ornamental things which he made with support of his institute.
Another student said he showcased olive pickles, hand-fans, waistcoats and traditional hats (Pakool) and other things in the exhibition.
