KABUL): Four policemen and five civilians were injured in a bomb explosion in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Saturday, an official said.
The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in the Maulvi Khalis Farm area on the outskirts of Jalalabad at 11:15am.
He said the injured were evacuated hospital for treatment to the Nangarhar Civil Hospital. Gospital sources said they had received 10 people with multiple injuries.
One official said the injured included four police officials and six civilians. Two of the wounded are said to be in critical condition.
Eyewitness and resident of the locality, Abbas, said the explosives had been placed in a handcart near a bridge. A police vehicle and a car were damaged in the blast, he added.
