PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): The new governor of the central Logar province has vowed on Saturday to fight against corruption and vacate state land from grabbers even at the cost of his life.
Niaz Mohammad Amiri expressed these views during his introductory meeting as new governor of the restive province.
The meeting was attended by locals, members of provincial council, Senators, tribal elders and provincial officials.
After the meeting, he was formally designated provincial governor as his predecessor and former governor Arsala Jamal was killed in a blast inside a mosque during Eid-ul-Adha.
Enhanced security, reconstruction and fight against corruption and land grabbing were among his top priorities, he said.
“I will have to take back the state land from grabbers even at the cost of my life,” he remarked.
He would leave no stone unturned to ensure security and initiate reconstruction but the people should extend their all out cooperation to achieve durable changes.
Senator from Logar, Haji Akbar Stanekzai, on behalf of public representatives and locals had assured all out cooperation who complained that people problems were not being tackled properly amid widespread corruption.
He urged the new governor to adopt strict measures to ameliorate the situation.
Amiri belongs to Deh Yak district of Ghazni province who represented his home province in the previous period of Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament.
