KABUL): At least 406 families affected by recent floods and uprooted by the conflict received on Thursday cash aid amounting to 3.5 million afghanis in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said.
Approved by Governor Abdul Majeed Khogyani, the aid was distributed to families in Syedabad, Chak, Daimirdad, Jaghatu and Behsud districts, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Each conflict-hit family received 50,000 afghanis and those seriously affected by floods were given 15,000afs each. Less affected families received 5,000 afghanis, he said, claiming transparency in the distribution process.
But some families in Syedabad said their houses had been destroyed by the floods and the amount of 15,000afs in aid was not enough for reconstructing their homes. They sought greater assistance.
