ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): Five Pakistanis are currently being held at the US detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, a spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
At her weekly media briefing, Tasnim Aslam said Islamabad was ready to repatriate the Pakistanis from Cuba. Pakistan has got consular access to the five Pakistanis.
She identified the Pakistani detainees in Guantanamo as Saifullah Piracha, Majid Khan, Ghulam Ahmed Rabbani, Muhammad Ahmed Rabbani and Amar Ali Baloshi.
Ms. Aslam trashed as speculative The New York Times report that claimed top Pakistani intelligence and military officials were aware of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s presence in Abbottabad.
The spokesperson said Pakistan had been the worst victim of terrorism over the past three decades. More than 40,000 Pakistanis including security personnel had been killed in terrorist attacks, she concluded.
