KABUL) on Tuesday said such incidents could not derail the April vote.
The attack near the residence of presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in Darulaman area in the sixth police district left five attackers, two policemen and two civilians dead and six injured.
IEC Secretary Ziaul Haq Amarkhel told reporters at the scene that two IEC officials had been killed and five others wounded in the attack.
He said such attacks could not demoralise the commission and they would hold the elections under any circumstances. “Such attacks cannot stop the elections. We are in a war and such attacks are expected, but we will conduct the vote come what may,” he vowed.
