HARAN (Pajhwok): Four insurgents were killed when the land mine they were planting exploded in the Wazakhwa district of southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Friday.
Mukhlis Afghan, the governor’s spokesman, said all the militants died on the spot while planting the mine on the road between Muhammad Khan and Shamokhel villages on Thursday night.
Soon after the blast, security forces rushed to the site and recovered a rocket-propelled grenade and a motorcycle belonging to the insurgents.
Abdul Ghani Paktin, a provincial council member, said the rebels were planting mines on main routes and they died because of their own explosives.
