KABUL), have been arrested during an operation that left four militants dead in northern Baghlan province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Wednesday.
The clean-up operation was conducted in the Dand Ghori district of the province about two weeks ago, MoI spokesman Siddiqui Siddique told reporters in Kabul.
He said seven militants, including the two commanders Mullah Ghayur and Mullah Janan, had been arrested during the operation that resulted in the seizure of a large amount of weapons and explosives.
The detainees had confessed to carrying out insurgent activities in Afghanistan at the behest of ISI, he claimed, alleging the group had been involved in 40 attacks that killed 60 security personnel and 15 civilians.
He accused the detainees of beheading government officials and attempts at sabotaging the April 5 elections. The official said 105 militants had been arrested in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours.
