LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Four Public Order Police personnel were killed on Friday when an explosives-packed vehicle rammed into their post in southern Helmand province.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News four policemen were killed and five others wounded during the suicide attack in Nawzad district.
He said the bomber detonated the explosives-laden Mazda truck in front of the police post in Inzarshali area before noon. The checkpoint was recently transferred by NATO to troops to Afghan forces.
The Taliban claimed responsibility, with their spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi saying 20 policemen, including the checkpoint commander, had been killed in the assault. But the authorities rejected the claim as inflated.
