KABUL (Pajhwok): A presidential decree issued on Monday directed all deputy ministers and deputy heads of independent government agencies to perform duties as acting ministers and acting heads.
Under the decree, the Presidential Palace said, the deputy ministers and deputy heads of departments would continue their jobs until a new cabinet was announced.
The decree instructed the acting officials to avoid making new appointments or dismissals.
Ministries of foreign affairs, women’s affairs, commerce and industries and finance were exempted from the decree. The acting ministers will continue their duties until the end of the London Conference.
President Ghani announced on Sunday evening on the national TV that the new Council of Ministers would be gradually introduced in the next two to four weeks.
Earlier, the parliament had warned that if the acting ministers continued their jobs, the government would lose its legitimacy.
