MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): More than 700 youth, who graduated this year in central Wardak province, are seeking jobs to support their families, officials said on Wednesday.
Education Director Fazal Rahman Tariq told Pajhwok Afghan News that 702 individuals had graduated from private institutes and teacher training centers in Maidan Wardak.
He said currently 900 teachers were required for different schools across the province. If the governor gave the graduates teaching positions, the gap would be filled.
As many as 3,640 students including 208 females graduated from high schools this year. One of them, Walid Wardak, expressed concern over joblessness and said that a large number of his colleagues remained unemployed.
“The people who have connections in government offices can easily find jobs but those like me may remain unemployed,” he believed.
Administrative Reform and Civil Services Director Amanullah Paigham said all teachers and officers in Maidan Wardak province were appointed on merit.
