QALA-I-NAW/PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Taliban gunmen shot dead a Public Order Police (POP) and wounded her daughter during an overnight attack on his home in northwestern Badghis province, an official said Monday.
A public order police officer Mohammad Arif told Pajhwok Afghan News that Asmatullah was serving in the public order police force in Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital. The slain service member, he said was on vacation to his home.
Elsewhere, security personnel in central Logar province claimed seizing 700 kilogram of opium, Din Mohammad Darwish, the governor’s spokesman said.
He said the illicit substance was concealed in a car which was recovered by the officials of National Directorate of security (NDS). However, the driver flee, he added.
A month ago, police had recovered 1,000 kilogram of opium in Logar.
