Spanta, former NSA to former president Hamid Karzai while speaking at governors’ association in Kabul said: “I, my team and colleagues with all energy will support unity government leaders’ view point against Pakistan’s aggressions.”
“It is about fate of our country and nation. It’s not about political parties. We are not opposition to the government. Whatever the leaders have against Pakistan’s aggression we will stand behind them and follow them,” he reassured.
In the past one decade, the Afghan government tried to establish cordial ties with Pakistan and to gain Islamabad’s cooperation in peace process.
But not only former president Hamid Karzai’s efforts did not yield any results but seems like President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s outreach to Pakistan is also bearing no fruits.
The series of bloodbath in capital Kabul seems to be testing unity government leaders’ patients as well.
President Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah last week blasted Pakistan for not taking practical steps for Afghanistan’s peace process and still harboring insurgents that staged attacks on Afghanistan.
According to Spanta, national unity and national interest required unity of all people and Mujahideen who had sacrificed in the last 37 years. For independence, he said, ideological differences had no meaning.
“We shouldn’t falter on our stance. Pakistan’s aggression must end,” he added.
Anwar-ul-Haq Ahadi, former commerce minister, said security, economic and governance situation in Afghanistan were becoming worse.
This issue, he said, if not addressed would even threat Afghanistan’s independence. “Both the international community and people say that there is no alternative and we should endure the current situation. I think it is an insult to the nation.”
He said there was alternative for betterment of the situation and practical steps were needed in this regard.
