Ghazni collision leaves 1 dead, 25 wounded

GHAZNI (Pajhwok): A 303 public transport bus driver was killed and 25 passengers suffered injuries when the bus collided head-on with a truck on the Kabul-Kandahar Highway in southern Ghazni province, an official said.

The collision occurred in the vicinity of Aab Band district, Ghazni depuy governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan.

He said the bus was on its way to Kandahar province when crashed into the truck in Spin Band area of the district.

The bus driver was killed on the spot and the 25 injured passengers included women and children, he said.

Ghazni traffic department head Mohammadullah Ahmadi confirmed the accident, blaming it on drivers’ negligence.

He had no information about the condition of the wounded people but said they were shifted to hospitals by other passenger vehicles and family members.

Baz Mohammad Hemat, the Ghazni provincial hospital director, said he was aware of the incident but no wounded person from the scene had arrived at the hospital so far.

Rahimullah, a resident of the locality, said no government official visited the area after the accident and the wounded people were taken to hospitals by the passengers themselves.
