Ministers-MPs nexus behind imbalanced uplift: Hayat

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some ministers in connivance with lawmakers approved and executed development projects in specific areas of central Maidan Wardak province, leading to imbalanced development, the governor said on Thursday.

Hayatullah Hayat expressed these views during a meeting with delegations from Jalrez, Syedabad, Narkh, Dai Merdad, Chak and other districts, according his spokesman Attaullah Khogyani.

The governor promised the visiting people that he would share the implanced development issue with the president and the Cabinet.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohibullah, a resident of Chak district, said the hydropower dam in their district had reducing production.

He said the plant extended electricity to only 20 families compared to the past when it electrified hundreds of homes. He also complained construction works that could be completed in months remained unfinished in years.

Naqibullah, a resident of Jalrez district, was concerned about increasing drug smuggling, drug addiction and joblessness in his area and asked the provincial government to address their problems.

Governor Hayat said he would try to find ways how to resolve people’s problems in order to restore their trust.

He accused some lawmakers of suggesting some ministers to implement projects to their interested areas that led to imbalanced development of the province.

“Some representatives got approved projects they wanted to be implemented in areas of their interest, this action has caused imbalanced development,” Hayat added, without naming anyone.
