SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): The education department on Monday said 63 new school buildings have been constructed during the past one year in northern Sar-i-Pul province.
Education Director Abdul Ghafoor Sar-i-Puli told reporters here that 30 of the schools were constructed under the National Solidarity Programme during the ongoing academic year (from Mar. 22, 2015) at a total cost of nearly 100 million afghanis.
Another 33 under construction school buildings were completed at a total cost of nearly 20 million afs from the Education Ministry’s development budget, he said.
Except Kohistanat where Taliban militants rule, the director said the buildings had been constructed in all parts of the province.
A total of 388 schools are operational in the province and 60 of them have no buildings. Buildings for 220 schools have been constructed over the past four years in the province.
More than 160,000 students, 42 percent of them girls, have been studying in these schools.
