12 villages of Qaisar district retaken from insurgents

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Afghan police have cleared a dozen villages of the Qaisar district of northern Faryab province of Taliban’s presence, an official claimed on Thursday.

The villages were cleared by a 100-member unit of Afghan Local Police (ALP) led by Wolesi Jirga (lower house of parliament) member Fathullah Qaisari.

Public uprising members also fought alongside the ALP personnel, the district’s administrative chief, Rahmatullah Qaisari, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

“We have enough human resources, but ask the government to equip ALP and uprising members with weapons and ammunitions to prevent the Taliban from recapturing the areas,” he said.

Almaka, Sarbaz and Aiti Sarlaq areas, comprised of 12 villages, had fallen to Taliban a month ago, but the ALP retook the areas last night, said a member of provincial council, Syed Abdul Baqi Hashimi.
