KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 49 Daesh and Taliban militants have suffered casualties during air and ground operations in different areas of eastern Nangarhar province, officials claimed on Sunday.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operations were conducted in Khogyani, Ghanikhel and Kot districts of the province, bordering Pakistan’s tribal region of Khyber.
He said 18 Daesh or Islamic State (IS) and seven Taliban militants were killed. Twenty IS and two Taliban insurgents were injured during the raids, the spokesman added.
The overnight operations in Ahmadkhel, Janjal Ghondi and Saypai areas of Kot left several Daesh rebels dead and wounded, he continued.
