PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has extended the deadline for Afghan transporters to September 30 after fruitful dialogue between the two sides, an official of the Khyber political administration said.
Pakistani border forces have barred Afghan truckers without legal documentsfrom entering Pakistan as part of the National Action Plan. The Afghan transporters had been given a month-long deadline to legalise their entry.
After the end of the deadline, representatives of Pakistan and Afghan transporters met on Friday. Haji Azeemullah and Haji Qasim represented the Pakistani and Afghan transporters respectively.
They met Pakistan’s border security officials in Torkham, with transporters deploring the restrictions imposed in them by Islamabad. More than 80 percent of Afghan truckers are involved in transportation between the neighbouring countries.
