KABUL CITY (Pajhwok): One hundred rehabilitated drug addicts were on Wednesday introduced to a vocational and professional course in central Kabul, an official said.
Ibni Sina Drug Rehabilitation Center head, Ahmad Javid Qazi Zadah, told reporters here that nearly 130 addicts were able to quit smoking drugs after a three-month treatment at the hospital.
He said 100 of the addicts on Wednesday joined the vocational and professional course at the center to learn skills and become constructive citizens.
He said in the past one year about 6859 addicts shunned smoking and some of them completed vocational and profession learning.
Mohammad Habib, who started consuming drugs seven years back in Iran, said he felt happy after reclaiming health.
Zalgai Ghafoori, another former addict, said he would like to learn electricity related skills to earn income.
Vocational institute Omid director, Ali Iftikhari, also said they would train addicts in tailoring, mechanics and electricity for six months.
He requested all government and foreign organizations to hire the former addicts after completing their vocational course in order they did not return to the habit of using drugs,
