MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Former Laghman provincial council (PC) member Qari Roohullah Faizan died on Wednesday of wounds suffered in a gun attack a day earlier, an official said.
Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Faizan served as Khatib was shot on his way home on Tuesday evening.
The former public representative was provided initial medical care at a local before being evacuated to the Nangarhar Civil Hospital in Jalalabad, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Laghman and Nangarhar governors expressed grief and sorrows over the killing of Faizan. The Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said Faizan was brought to hospital last night.
Governor Gulab Mangal visited the hospital and instructed the doctors on duty to provide the best possible treatment to the cleric. Khogyani said Faizan died of his deep wounds early Wednesday.
Abdul Moeed Hashimi, a Laghman base writer and journalist, said Faizan had served as PC member and advisor to the governor. The scholar often called for reforms in government policies.
