President accepts Pakistani envoy’s credentials

KABUL, Zahid Nasrullah Khan, and accepted his credentials.

During the meeting, the president wished successes to the new ambassador in his missions, a statement from the president’s media office said.

The president accepted credentials from the Pakistani envoy at a ceremony in this regard at the Presidential Palace, the statement said.

It said Zahid Nasrullah Khan extended best wishes to President Ghani from Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the ceremony.

Pleased with his appointment, Zahid Khan, who replaces Ibrar Hussain, promised to make efforts at improving relations between the two countries.

Pakistan’s official news agency, APP, reported that the newly appointed ambassador to Afghanistan conveyed a message of goodwill on behalf of the president and prime minister of Pakistan.

Citing a message the news agency received from the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, it said the ambassador reiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shared President Ghani’s vision of regional connectivity that was essential for prosperity.

The ambassador expressed his determination to work for promotion of bilateral relations in all fields.
