Woman killed, 2 injured in Uruzgan helicopter strike

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): An Afghan military helicopter allegedly shelled a vehicle carrying civilians in the capital of central Uruzgan province on Friday, killing one woman and injuring another woman and a child.

“We were travelling to Garm Ab district from Tirinkot (the provincial capital) at about 10am when a military helicopter attacked us,” a relative of the slain woman, Mohammad Rahim, said. He said his wife was killed and another woman and her child were wounded in the strike.

Civil hospital direct Dr. Aminullah Tokhi told Pajhwok Afghan News in Tirinkot that one dead body of a woman and two injured persons, a woman and a child, had been delivered at the hospital. He said the injured were in critical condition.

Provincial security officials are yet to comment on the incident.
