KABUL (Pajhwok): The crime branch chief of 101st Asmaee zone survived an overnight gun attack, an official said on Thursday.
Mohammad Salim Almas came under attack from unknown assailants on his way home in 4th Macro Ryan area after patrolling the city, an official revealed.
The official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity Almas escaped unhurt along with his bodyguards, but the vehicle they were traveling in was damaged.
The ensuing clash lasted five minutes and the attackers managed to flee the area, he added. No one has so far been arrested in connection with the incident
“Many abductors and mafia gang members have been arrested by the crime branch this year. There is reason to believe that mafia groups are involved in this assault,” he remarked.
