Rethink decision on Noor’s resignation, Jamiat tells govt

KABUL party on Wednesday rejected the approval of Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation as governor of Balkh and slammed president’s decision.

In a statement, the party said the resignation of the Balkh governor was unacceptable to them.

“Noor is the chief executive of the party that has a key role in the government based on the agreement on the unity government,” the party said.

Any unilateral decision would disrupt the coalition, the statement warned, saying it was carefully monitoring all violations of the agreement by the government.

Currently, the statement said, the party was in a position to defend the legitimate right of the people of Afghanistan.

It asked the government to reconsider its decision; otherwise the party would move on to defend the legitimate rights of the people by exercising any option.

President Ashraf Ghani approved Noor’s resignation on Monday and appointed Eng. Mohammad Dawood as his replacement.
