2 Paktika children die of a mysterious disease

SHARANA (Pajhwok): Two children have died of a mysterious disease in Ziruk district of southeastern Paktika province, residents said on Thursday.

The residents of Warjana village said the two children first developed flue, then increasing coughing and bleeding through mouth and nose.

Sorat Khan, one of the residents, said the mysterious disease had concerned people. He said symptoms included flue, throat infection, high temperature and diarrhea type signs. He said the disease had so far killed two children in the village.

A resident of Argun district, Naik Mohammad, said the Warjana village was located near them and the virus surfaced there about five days ago.

Paktika public health director Dr. Wali Gul said they had been informed about the disease and a team of doctors had been sent to the area for investigation. He said the outcome of the investigation would be shared with the media.
