Ghani denounces overnight bombing, orders investigation

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Friday directed security organs to thoroughly investigate a deadly overnight bombing in Kabul.

At least 36 people were killed and wounded in the suicide attack in the ninth police district near Shinozada private hospital.

Eleven people were killed and 25 others injured by the attacker, who detonated his explosives near a group of security personnel.

While denouncing the assault, Ghani regretted the loss of civilians and security officials. He commended sacrifices of the security forces in the campaign for restoring peace.

In a statement from his office, the president warned: “The criminals involved in acts against Islamic values and humanity should know they can’t hide in any part of the country.

“They will certainly face a strong response from the brave and valiant national defence and security forces,” Ghani said, ordering a probe into the incident.
