5 policemen killed in Farah attack

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok):  Five policemen have been killed and two others injured in militants attack on police check-post in western Farah province, local residents said on Monday.

Gul Aqa, the resident of locality said, insurgents stormed check-post at around 12:00am on Sunday night in Syedabad village situated on the outskirts of Farah City, the provincial capital.

He added security forces recaptured the check-post in the early morning and police told the residents that five policemen were killed and two other injured in the overnight attack.

Other residents of the area also acknowledged the claim of Aqa.

But Deputy Police Chief Col Gulbahar Mujahid rejected the fall of check-post and claimed both sides suffered casualties in the clash without disclosing further details.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed capturing police check-post and recovering seven weapons. He also claimed killing five policemen, including two commanders.

It was the third consecutive attack of the Taliban on police check-post in Farah City.
