37 militants eliminated in Farah attack

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): At least 37 Taliban insurgents have been killed by foreign and Afghan forces in the capital of western Farah province, the governor’s spokesman said.

Nasir Mehri told Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants staged a group attack on police check-posts in the Ting area of Farah City at around midnight.

He said reinforcement, with the air support from foreign forces, arrived at the site and assaulted the militants. Thirty-seven insurgents were killed. Only two policemen were wounded in the firefight.

A resident of the area, who did not want to be named, said he had information about the killing of 13 insurgents. There has been no word yet from Taliban in this regard.
