57 killed, 119 wounded in Kabul suicide bombing

KABUL (MoPH) said.

Health Ministry’s Spokesman Wahidullah Majroh told Pajhwok Afghan News among the dead persons were  21 women and five children while 47 women and 16 children had been injured in the bombing.

Police Spokesman Hashmatullah Stanikzai said the explosion happened when a suicide bomber targeted civilians who had gathered to register themselves as voters at the facility at around 10:00am.

Earlier, Majroh said 48 people were killed and 112 injured individuals had been evacuated to hospitals from the blast site.

Eyewitness Mohammad Amin said dozens of people were killed and wounded in the suicide attack..

The huge explosion was heard across the city, shattering windowpanes miles from the site and damaging several nearby vehicles. Police blocked all roads leading to the site, with only ambulances allowed in.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
