JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Intelligence forces have detained five suspected militants and recovered nearly 1000 walkie-talkies during separate raids in eatern Nangarhar province, an official said Wednesday.
The detainees included three Daesh or Islamic state (IS) rebels, two Taliban insurgents, one kidnapper and another one who possessed the walkie-talkies.
The detainees and the equipment seized were shown to media persons during in a press conference in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said one individual named Rahatullah had been arrested along with 945 walkie-talkies by National Directorate of security (NDS) personnel in Behsud district.
He said the walkies-talkies were meant for supplying to insurgents for using in terrorist activities.
Separately, the NDS personnel captured three Daesh rebels who included Asadullah, in charge of carrying women to rebels in Khogyani district.
The spy-network also detained two Taliban militants in Ghanikhel district and a third one in Jalalabad city, he added.
On the other hand, Mohammad Amin, a kidnap gang leader, was also arrested by NDS personnel during a raid in Rodat district, Khogyani concluded.
