4 killed in suicide attack targeting NDS convoy

KABUL (Pajhwok): Four people were killed and five others wounded as a result of a car bombing targeting intelligence operatives in Kabul on Thursday morning.

Police chief Gen. Dawood Amin told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide bomber targeted a convoy of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel in Kampani area.

He was unaware of casualties in the attack that occurred in Bagh-i-Dawood area in the limits of the 5th police district at 5am.

However, police spokesman Hashmatullah Stanikzai said four people were killed and five others wounded in the bombing. He did not reveal the victims’ identities.

On the other hand, Abdul Qader, a resident of the area, claimed the NDS operatives shot dead a civilian after the suicide attack.

Another inhabitant, Mohammad Bashir, said a fierce clash took place after the explosion. The gunbattle lasted about one hour, he added.

Pajhwok photographer Zainullah, who was 200 metres from the site of explosion, said the intelligence agents shoved him and broke his camera.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Zabihullah Mujahid, the group’s spokesman, several NDS staffers suffered casualties in the bombing.
