KABUL (Pajhwok): The border police force in eastern Nangarhar province would be provided with modern weapons and equipment, a senior official pledged on Friday.
Border Police Commander Gen. Juma Gul Hemat held out the pledge during a visit to the 1st Brigade of Border Forces in Nangarhar, a statement from the governor’s office said
He commended 1st Brigade Gen. Mohammad Ayub Hussainkhel for his administration of the brigade. As a result, Hemat said, casualties among border forces had fallen.
In compliance with instructions from President Ashraf Ghani, he said, the border force would be equipped with modern weapons.
The objective behind his trip was to assess the issues and take appropriate steps to resolve them. The creation of more outposts was a priority, he concluded.
