KABUL (Pajhwok): An explosion rocked the Pul-i-Charkhi area near the Independent Election Commission’s office in Kabul on Monday afternoon, police said.
At least one policeman was killed and second wounded when a suicide bomber on foot set off his explosives, police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said.
Police cordoned off the site and blocked the Kabul-Jalalabad road — hours after protestors marched around IEC offices against the disqualification of 35 parliamentary candidates.
Stanikzai said the attacker wanted to enter a tent set up by supporters of disqualified candidates. The blast happened in the 9th police district of Kabul.
