Taliban’s shadow district chief killed in Kapisa raid

MEHAMOOD-RAQI (Pajhwok): Security forces killed a Taliban’s designated chief for the Alasai district of central Kapisa province along with his two bodyguards during a clearing operation, an official said Sunday.

The district administrative chief, Ghulam Naqshband Sapi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Special Security Forces conducted the clearing operation in Nizamkhel area late Saturday night.

The Taliban’s shadow district chief for the Alasai district, Maulvi Asif, and two guards were killed in the overnight raid.

Sheer Agha, a resident of the Alaqadari locality of the district, told Pajhwok that an airstrike hit a home and killed a militant among three residents of the area.

The Taliban have so far not spoken about the incident.
